Image
The UAE (United Arab Emirates) space agency launched its maiden mission to Mars in 2020, fewer than ten years after it was established. So, how did they do it? On July 19, 2020, a rocket blasted off from Tanegashima, a small island in Japan’s south, a few months after a global pandemic had immobilized the earth. The name of the spaceship was “Hope.” However, it wasn’t from the United States, Russia, or the European Union. Instead, Hope was the first spacecraft from the United Arab Emirates Space Agency (UAESA) to go further than an orbit around the Earth. If it works, it will be the first Arab spaceship to reach Mars, and the UAE will be only the fifth country in the world to put a spaceship in orbit around Mars... COVID rules hurt iPhone maker Foxconn

Image
Foxconn, an Apple supplier, says its November sales were down 11% from the same month in 2021. This is because of problems at the world’s largest iPhone factory. It says coronavirus restrictions at its plant in Zhengzhou, China, are to blame for the drop. Even though it made a record 5.9 trillion New Taiwan Dollars (£160bn) from January to November, its sales were down 29% from October. Compared to the same time in 2021, that is a 13.5% rise. The electronics company, which also makes game consoles like the PlayStation 5, grew because of “strong sales” and “better component supply.” However, coronavirus restrictions caused the drop in November, the company said. Image
Twitter owner Elon Musk said that since he took over, “hate speech impressions” had dropped a lot on the site since he took over. Musk has also publicly criticized the company’s rules about content moderation and taken away resources that the company needed. T wo watchdog groups conducted research on Friday that showed Musk’s false claim. The research gave one of the clearest pictures of the rising rate of hate speech on the platform. In reports, both the Center for Countering Digital Hate and the Anti-Defamation League said that the amount of hate speech on Twitter had grown a lot while Musk was in charge. In particular, the Center for Countering… Read More Source —  California Observer
